Photographer Beth Moon, the author of a series of images of the oldest trees in the world, inspired by scientific research on the effect of cosmic radiation on tree growth, created another cycle, this time photographing trees against the background of a starry night sky. I am sure that you have never seen so many stars in the sky. Watch "Diamond Nights" through the lens of Beth Moon.

Diamond nights

1. A scattering of stars in the night sky looks like the shining of a huge amount of diamonds, which is probably why Beth Moon called her project “Diamond Nights”. (Photo: Berth Moon).

2. These unique photographs of trees against the background of the starry sky were taken far from civilization and light pollution - in the remote wilderness of our planet - in the southern hemisphere of Africa: Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. (Photo: Berth Moon).

3. When night falls at Makgadikgadi Pans National Park in Botswana, the branches of the trees seem to stretch straight to the sky, to the stars. As it turns out, space actually has a profound effect on tree growth. (Photo: Berth Moon).

4. According to research by scientists from the University of Edinburgh, trees grow faster with higher levels of cosmic radiation reaching the Earth's surface. (Photo: Berth Moon).

5. Moreover, scientists from the University of Edinburgh have concluded that cosmic radiation has a greater effect on tree growth than ambient temperature or rainfall. (Photo: Berth Moon).

6. Another researcher, Lawrence Edwards, noticed that tree buds are not dormant in winter, but change their shape and size, and this is repeated cyclically throughout the winter. Even more surprising was the fact that the cycles for different types of trees are different. (Photo: Berth Moon).

7. Painstaking measurements and research by Lawrence Edwards showed that the cycles of change in the size of the kidneys did not correspond to either solar cycles or even lunar ones, but to conjunctions (conjunctions) of the Moon, Earth, and various planets or the Sun. (Photo: Berth Moon).

8. Very interesting were the observations of the famous researcher Lawrence Edwards. So, for example, the planet Mars influences the oak, Saturn influences the beech, Venus influences the birch, and the Sun influences the cherry. (Photo: Berth Moon).

9. Interestingly, during his research, Lawrence Edwards also found that power lines disrupt the influence of planets on trees. (Photo: Berth Moon).

10. Most of the photographs in the Diamond Nights series were taken on moonless nights. (Photo: Berth Moon).

11. As Beth Moon wrote on her website while making this series of photographs, she had to use different lighting methods and experiment with light. (Photo: Berth Moon).
