In the pursuit of likes and comments, many take unnecessary risks, making spectacular selfies in unusual and sometimes even dangerous places.
The desire to stand out has led to the fact that over the past six years, as a result of "unsuccessful" selfies, 259 people have died. How exactly this happened, read our article.
Scientists of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences conducted a study, during which they learned a lot about such a seemingly simple activity as a selfie. According to statistics, over the past six years, the number of fatal accidents as a result of "dangerous photos" has increased significantly. So, in 2011, there were only three tragic incidents related to selfies, and last year-97 at once. And this is according to official data, in fact, there may be much more deaths.
Also, scientists have found that most of the "deadly selfies" are made in India. It is followed by Russia, the United States and the United States in the number of tragic cases. Pakistan. 85% of the dead are people aged from 10 to 30 years.
Most often, the causes of death were falls, drownings or road accidents. There were also situations when fans of" selfies " died as a result of electric shocks, gunshot wounds or animal attacks.
Quite common cases when young people tried to capture themselves against the background of an approaching train, but did not have time to get off the rail. But still, more often than not, selfie fans are killed by falling from a height.
Below are some examples of tragic cases that prove that selfies can be dangerous.
In 2015, the girl you see in the photo was burned alive. Together with her friend, 18-year-old Anna Ursu climbed on the roof of the train to take a spectacular selfie, but accidentally touched a high-voltage wire. A 27,000-volt discharge instantly damaged it and threw it off the roof of the car to the ground. A bystander along with a friend of the girl immediately took her to the hospital, but as a result, she died from burns to 50% of her body.
This Mexican accidentally shot himself while recording a video for a social network. Oscar Aguilar Otero had the temerity to use a loaded rifle as a prop and was completely unprepared for the fact that it might fire. They tried to save the guy, but he died on the way to the hospital.
This photo was taken on the way to the bachelorette party of the deceased bride Colette Moreno. In the picture, the girl is sitting in the passenger seat and taking a selfie with her friend Ashley. Carefree and happy, she is already dreaming about the upcoming wedding, but at one point Ashley loses control and their car crashes into the oncoming lane. There are several collisions with other cars, as a result of the injuries the girl dies.
Remember that a selfie is just a photo, and while you are taking it, real life passes by, as in the example with these people, forever.
