"Cannibal Sasha": the story of the Novokuznetsk cannibal

Charismatic, erudite, and immaculately dressed, cannibals and rippers are a figment of the imagination of Hollywood writers and directors. Serial killers and rapists are not very pleasant people in life, because their mental disorder, even hidden very deeply, still leaves an imprint on appearance, communication style and attitude towards others. But even among the maniacs there are characters who inspire a special feeling of disgust, for example, the Novokuznetsk cannibal Alexander Spesivtsev.

“Cannibal Sasha”, which is how Alexander Spesivtsev is affectionately called in his native Novokuznetsk, is far from the most “productive” killer in the criminal history of Russia. But this does not prevent him from being one of the most terrible non-humans born on Siberian soil over the past century.

Alexander was born in 1970 in the most ordinary family, of which there were many in Soviet times. The father of the future maniac drank heavily, and his wife kicked him out of the house, so the mother and sister were engaged in raising the boy.

Constantly surrounded by women, the child grew capricious and willful, and already in the primary grades he became almost completely uncontrollable. The young Shurik found the greatest pleasure in all sorts of small dirty tricks.

Scribble the walls of the entrance with curse words, push matches into the neighbors' castle, set fire to the elevator call button or the doorbell - Sasha had a lot of work to do. For some reason, Spesivtsev had a special love for the Nazis and Adolf Hitler - the entire entrance, up to the ninth floor, where our hero lived, was painted with swastikas, crosses and the Fuhrer's name.

Lyudmila Yakovlevna, who does not have leverage over her hooligan son, nevertheless, in conversations with neighbors and teachers, always took the side of her son. Alexander never knew what punishment was and was always sure that his mother would not let him offend anyone.

When Alexander was in high school, his mother got a job as an assistant lawyer in court. The older sister of the guy also worked there. To entertain her son, with whom her peers did not want to communicate, Lyudmila Yakovlevna brought home folders with pictures of corpses from criminal cases. In the evenings, mother and son spent hours looking at terrible photographs, vividly discussing bloody crimes.

Spesivtsev grew up as a thin, round-shouldered guy, physically poorly developed, untidy and unsociable. The girls shunned him, and he met his first love only at the age of 21. Sasha's chosen one was Evgenia Guselnikova, who at the time of meeting Alexander was barely 17.

The mother and sister hoped that the young man had found his destiny and would finally settle down, therefore, in order not to interfere with the young people, they moved out of the apartment on Pionersky Prospekt. The beginning of the couple's relationship was very romantic, with flowers, poems, and vows of eternal love. Everyone hoped that a high feeling would change Sasha, and he would take up his mind.

But after one day Spesivtsev's bestial essence broke out, and because of a minor quarrel he beat Guselnikova, the girl decided to break off the relationship. Alexander, having learned about this, became furious and locked her in his apartment on the 9th floor.

For a whole month, the sadist mocked Evgenia, beating her and torturing her in all ways known to him. The girl's parents, accustomed to the fact that she spends a lot of time with her beloved, did not immediately begin to worry, and when they found out that no one had seen Katya for a whole month, they went to the police.

Spesivtsev did not open the door at the request of law enforcement officers and they were forced to break the door. Zhenya Guselnikova was lying on the couch without clothes, covered with an old dressing gown, and there was no living place on her body from bruises, abrasions, ulcers and burns.

The victim was sent to the hospital, and Spesivtsev went under arrest. When the young man was taken out of the apartment, he did not behave quite adequately, blaming the neighbors in the porch for what had happened. While Alexander was being interrogated by investigators, Evgenia Guselnikova died of sepsis - the doctors could not help the girl, on whose body there were dozens of purulent wounds, and the body was in an extreme degree of exhaustion.

It was not possible to bring Spesivtsev to criminal liability - Sasha was recognized as mentally ill and sent to a special clinic in the Oryol region. Forced treatment was not too long, and after only three years the guy returned to his apartment on Pionersky Prospekt.

Faced with physical and moral humiliation in a prison-type hospital, Spesivtsev harbored a grudge against everyone around him. Alexander's sick imagination made terrible plans for revenge, the object of which he was ready to make any person living a different life than him.

The maniac began to regularly go to the Novokuznetsk railway station, where he sought out the company of homeless people and alcoholics. Sasha told random acquaintances about the grievances that he had to endure, and their drunken participation brought temporary relief.

With his second victim - 21-year-old Elena, Alexander met here in February 1996. Inviting the woman to his home, Spesivtsev already knew what he would do. In his “three-ruble note” on Pionersky Prospekt, the monster mocked the victim for a long time, after which he killed him. The third victim, also Elena, found her death in the maniac's dwelling just a month later, in March.

To hide the traces of the crime, the maniac dismembered the body in the bathroom, and his mother, Lyudmila Spesivtseva, buried the remains in a wasteland. From that moment on, the woman became the maniac's constant assistant in all his terrible deeds.

Feeling the taste of blood, Spesivtsev could no longer refuse to kill. In the spring of 1996, he meets 6 boys aged 10-13 at a construction site and invites them to rob an apartment. Of course, it turned out to be his own home. Two of them, 13-year-old Konstantin and Pavel, agreed to help commit a crime, for which they paid with their lives. Perhaps it was then that Spesivtsev first cooked human meat and tasted it.

Lyudmila Yakovlevna again helped get rid of the evidence by taking out body parts late in the evening in a trash can and burying them in secluded places. Part of the human meat was eaten by Spesivtsev's dog - a huge coal-black diver.

Just a month later, in June 1996, 4 people died in the maniac's apartment - two young girls, a forty-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. Nothing is known about the last two, except for their age - their remains could not be identified. Flights of Lyudmila Spesivtseva with a bucket to the wasteland became regular, and the maniac and his dog completely switched to a meat diet.

In July, Spesivtsev met a 19-year-old girl named Natalya, whom he brought home and killed. A month later, in August, two 12-year-old girls entered the apartment on the 9th floor, never to leave it again. From his victims, Alexander cut out only loin parts - the rest was taken out of the apartment by his beloved mother.

The last three victims were brought to Alexandra by her mother. An elderly woman approached three girls on the street and asked for help in opening a jammed door lock. 13-year-old Nastya and Zhenya and their 15-year-old friend Olya, could not imagine how it would all end, going up to the top floor of an ordinary Novokuznetsk "socket".

Having entered the apartment smelling of carrion and seeing Spesivtsev armed with a kitchen knife, who had partially lost his human appearance, the girls tried to escape. Nastya made an attempt to hit the maniac with a bottle lying in the corridor, for which she was immediately stabbed to death.

The “cannibal Sasha” mocked Zhenya and Olya for a long time and with taste. Spesivtsev handcuffed the children to the battery and beat and raped them for a whole month. Another non-human forced the girls to take part in the dismemberment of the corpse of their friend and fed them with human meat.

A few days later it was the turn of Zhenya, whom the maniac calmly slaughtered in front of another girl. The last of her friends, Olga, again had to take part in cutting up the corpse and making soup from her meat and entrails. All this time, the mother of the killer was in the apartment - a constant assistant in hiding the traces of brutal murders. Also sometimes the maniac's sister, who lived separately, came in. Obviously, she considered what was happening in the hellish apartment to be quite normal, since she did not refuse to visit her mother and brother.

Despite the regular removal of the remains, such a number of murders could not remain without consequences. In the summer of 1996, the inhabitants of the entrance were constantly tormented by a heavy putrid smell, the source of which was apartment No. 357.

The Spesivtsevs' neighbor, Lydia V., repeatedly applied to the police, demanding to check the apartment, from where an unbearable stench was coming from, and where music was playing around the clock. Law enforcement officers did not respond to the woman's numerous calls, referring to the fact that they could not do anything with the mentally ill.

It is not known how many more victims were on the account of the cannibal, if not for an accident. Before the start of the heating season, it turned out that the multi-storey building system needed preventive maintenance. To do this work, the plumbers of the ZhEK had to get into the Spesivtsevs' apartment.

Alexander categorically refused to open the door, referring to his mental illness and claiming that he was locked outside by his mother. As a result, public utility workers had to call the police, who, in the presence of attesting witnesses, opened the front doors.

There was a terrible smell of decomposition in the apartment - a pan with half-eaten human flesh was found on the maniac's stove, and in the bathroom lay a child's torso without arms and legs. The chest and legs of the child were right there in the steel tank. Obviously, the arrival of the police found Spesivtsev at work - he was busy cutting up the corpse and seizing the edible parts.

In one of the rooms near the battery, law enforcement officers found Olga, who was in critical condition. The girl was taken to the hospital, but she died three days later, having managed to testify against Spesivtsev.

By the way, the “cannibal Sasha” himself was not at home - while the police were breaking the door, the maniac climbed out through the balcony onto the roof of the house and fled. Spesivtsev did not enjoy his freedom for long - just a couple of days later the narrow-minded killer came to his house and hung around at the entrance, where he was arrested.

Six months before the capture of Spesivtsev, a mass burial of children's remains was discovered near the Pedagogical Institute. Under a layer of earth and debris were 70 fragments of bodies, which, according to experts, belonged to 15 children aged 3 to 14 years.

The face-to-face confrontation between the cannibal and his own mother is shocking:

In total, 19 murders were attributed to the maniac, but only the last 3 were able to prove it. In total, 82 sets of blood-stained children's and adult clothes, 40 pieces of jewelry and many photographs of children were found in the Spesivtsevs' apartment. Despite the fact that a whole genetic laboratory was delivered to Novokuznetsk, which occupied the train car, the exact number of victims could not be determined.

In 1997, Alexander Spesivtsev was sentenced ... to 10 years in prison for three proven murders. A year later, a new psychiatric examination was appointed and the maniac was recognized as mentally ill.

Today, "cannibal Sasha" is being treated in a closed hospital in the Volgograd region and has a very good chance of being released in the near future with a psychiatric conclusion "not dangerous". In this case, Alexander will be able to return to his apartment on Pionersky Prospekt and live there under the supervision of a district police officer.

The mother of the maniac, 60-year-old Lyudmila Spesivtseva, willingly told the investigation about her participation in the crime, but in the end she did not admit her guilt. Oddly enough, the woman received a sentence longer than the murderer and the cannibal. The court sentenced the maniac's mother to 13 years in prison. Sasha's sister was recognized as a witness and did not suffer any punishment. At the moment, Lyudmila Yakovlevna, who was released in 2008, lives with her eldest daughter in the countryside, where no one knows them.
