Boris Register tells: "I didn't think about what my favorite photo is. It came by itself, rejoiced at the new photo, and after a while cooled down and was looking for a new story for a new picture.

One of the stories. Gvardeysk (Tapiau), an 1890 water tower and a stokehouse of a former provincial psychiatric hospital. Until 1945, the stoker worked on steam heating. Hot water was supplied from the stoker to the hospital, the bathhouse, the dining room, and the residential buildings of the hospital staff. The heating system was tied to two heating boilers. The boilers were made by riveting method from Krupp steel. The boilers were heated with coal and firewood.

The entire structure of the supply of coal or firewood to the boilers, as well as the removal of slag from the boilers was mechanized. After 1945, the technical heating system of the stoker gradually changed, but not in a positive way. Pipes, valves and other plumbing parts were replaced. Our stokers were not lucky enough to work the way the Germans did. All mechanization was destroyed, and modern stokers got manual hard labor. Currently, German boilers are no longer working and are waiting for their dismantling period. The story continues."
