Body Notes: Unexpected tattoos of Olympic athletes

One of the most common reasons why a person decides to get a tattoo is to leave a memory of a significant event in life. In this regard, Olympic athletes are not much different from ordinary mortals — many people mark their participation in the Games with drawings on their bodies.

Among the famous and tattooed Olympians is the bronze medalist in diving Tom Daly. A tattoo in the form of five Olympic rings appeared on the athlete's body after the London Games in 2012.

Some depict the symbols of their native country. For example, American wrestler Jordan Burrows, who combined the Olympic emblem with elements of the national flag.

Often tattoos on the body of athletes cause controversy. Paralympian Joseph Craig was disqualified at the European Championships. And he was not allowed to swim until the athlete hid the drawing.
