Birds that look like owls but aren't

Categories: Animals

The smoky frogmouth, or owl frogmouth, is a bird living in Australia with a very large recognizable mouth. They are often confused with owls, but they are not owls at all!

In addition to being extremely cute, these cuties are also very useful. They destroy mosquitoes, flies, beetles, worms and other living creatures. Believe it or not, the frogmouth is actually capable of swallowing a frog!
