At 100 years old, everything is just beginning: scientists have proved that there is no limit to human life

And now what? Human longevity is a controversial topic, but in recent studies, scientists have concluded that the biological probability of death increases only up to 105 years, and then everything depends on ourselves.
American and Italian scientists have published a study on the possibilities of human longevity in the journal Science. A representative of the group, Kenneth Wachter from the University of California at Berkeley, USA, said that they observed elderly Italians and came to a very interesting conclusion — at the 105th year of life, the probability of an untimely death ceases to grow.
Simply put, at the age of 60, the probability of death is lower than at 80, because during this time the state of health significantly worsens. And at 105 and at 115, the probability of death is the same, everything is in our hands.
The study involved 3,836 residents of Italy from 105 years and older, who reached the required age from 2009 to 2015. Most of them, of course, are women — only 463 men have crossed the necessary threshold. It turned out that the "danger curves" become constant after reaching the age of 105, which means that the probability of death ceases to grow.
In general, there is a so — called Gompertz law in nature-when reaching a certain age, most representatives of the species die of old age, while the rest of the probability of death increases with each subsequent year.
But scientists continue to hope that human life does not obey this bleak law, although in 2016, American researchers said that people can reach a maximum of 110-115 years.
Wachter and his colleagues do not agree with this prospect. They analyzed all the collected information about centenarians and found out that after 105 years, it doesn't matter how much you have survived this mark — nothing changes. It follows that Gompertz's law does not apply to people, otherwise the probability of death would increase even after 105 years. And since Gompertz's law does not apply to people, it means that there is no limit to human life.
The data looks quite reliable, but in the scientific world, of course, few people agreed with them. For example, the famous scientist Brandon Milholland said that eternal life is impossible. He believes that the limit of human life is simply higher than 110-115 years, but this definitely cannot continue indefinitely.
