For most people, the subway has become a familiar and daily occurrence. Noisy, crowded and often congested world of subway — places that we, the people, tolerate out of necessity. Meanwhile, it turns out, not only biped use public transport. You probably noticed in the metro dogs, which seem to knowingly go into the cars and leave at different stations.

In Moscow there are about 35 thousand stray dogs, and 20 of them regularly use the subway. Jacqueline Boyd from the British University of Nottingham Trent tried to explain a surprising phenomenon. Such behavior is likely to be associated with a number of different factors, ranging from the evolution of people and dogs side by side and unusually thin animals ' ability to feel people's behavior, through which dogs know who to approach and from whom better to stay away. Boyd explains that for so many years of coexistence of the dogs have learned to read the emotional and physical cues of a person.

But to explain the unmistakable orientation of stray dogs on the subway is more complicated. Probably amazing ability is explained by the more developed than human senses. For example, dogs can distinguish stations by the smell and the lighting, the movement of passengers and perhaps even specific people in the subway. Even it is assumed that dogs can identify the station by name, listening to the speaker, but it is unknown whether they understand words or just associate some names of food. Also the dogs help in their regular travel events in the metro — at rush hour, opening and closing stores, night off the subway.

It turns out that stray dogs are a stunning example of the ability to adapt in a world created by humans for humans.
