American bodybuilders dressed up in swimsuits in honor of Memorial Day

Pumped—up bodies and elastic buttocks - a whole living museum of the perfection of the human body could be observed on Memorial Day in Venice Beach, California. This competition — Memorial Day Muscle Beach — takes place here annually. This is the first day of the competition — the International Classic, which opens the season for judges evaluating bodybuilders in various categories. Tellingly, on Memorial Day, it was only about those categories in which athletes developed muscles on their own, without resorting to the help of pharmaceuticals.

On July 4, the next stage of the bodybuilding competition will be held, where Mr. and Mrs. Muscle Beach will be selected, and the championship will be held on Labor Day, which is celebrated in the United States on the first Monday of September.

Venice Beach is one of the historic places where bodybuilders gather and is now the most famous, since the nearby beach for bodybuilders in Santa Monica was closed due to an excessive number of visitors.

The governor of California and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger often appeared here among other famous bodybuilders and actors who trained here, and still periodically visits this place.

Actor and bodybuilder Dave Draper, the first holder of the title "Mr. Olympia" Larry Scott, actor Danny Trejo, as well as the co-founder of one of the largest African-American criminal gangs Crips Stanley Tookie Williams often visited this beach.

Bodybuilder Chet Yorton trained at Muscle Beach in Venice in the early and mid-1960s, preparing for victory over Arnold Schwarzenegger in the NABBA "Mr. Universe" competition in 1966.

Registration of participants of the current competition began at seven in the morning, and preliminary judging started at 10. The final was scheduled for one o'clock in the afternoon.

There were several categories within the competition, including "Male Physicist", "Female Physicist", "Bikini" and "Vintage Swimsuit".

The "Mens Physicist" category evaluates the shape, proportions, muscularity and general condition of the body. The jury specifically indicated that the overall appearance and beauty of the body will be judged in this category, and overly developed muscles will negatively affect the ratings.

As for the women's category "Bikini", the judges noted that they would highly appreciate the balance and good shape and beautiful appearance in general, including the color and condition of the skin, tone, ability to present themselves and grace.

The participants should show a toned, athletic body, feminine, but with developed muscles.

Muscle Beach Venice was so named officially in 1987. It belongs to Los Angeles and was named Venice so that it would not be confused with the first such beach in Santa Monica. Many must have seen this beach in one of the episodes of the TV series "Rescuers of Malibu", where Hulk Hogan trains on the shore.
