With the help of Google Maps, Lauren created a photo project showing the amazing geometry of the runways.


Kastrup, Copenhagen Airport, built in 1925. Kastrup is the largest airport in Scandinavia.

San Francisco International Airport, USA. In addition to direct use, its terminals also serve as the location of the Louis Turpin Aviation Museum, the Airport Commission Library, and permanent and temporary art exhibitions are held in the waiting rooms.

Madrid-Barajas Airport named after Adolfo Suarez is the main international airport in Madrid.

Zurich Airport, serves more than 50 international airlines.

Barcelona International Airport receives more than 30 million passengers a year.

Atlanta International Airport, USA. It is the busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic and takeoffs and landings. Interestingly, most of the flights are domestic.

Luxembourg-Findel International Airport, Luxembourg. It was opened in the 1930s as a small airport with a grass surface and a relatively small, 1000 meters, runway.

Newark Liberty International Airport, USA. A United Airlines plane hijacked by terrorists took off from it on September 11, 2001 at 08:01 in the morning.

Wellington International Airport, New Zealand. The airport was built in 1929. In April 2009, the airport published a new master plan for reconstruction, designed for the next 20 years and including work on expanding the passenger terminal building, increasing the apron area and the length of the airport runway.
