1. According to Alan's calculations, it took him 4,200 hours and 720 thousand photos to still get this perfect shot of a kingfisher diving into the water without a single splash.
2. The love of nature and wild animals was passed on to McFadden from his grandfather.
3. "I remember when my grandfather took me to see the kingfisher nest, and I remember being shocked by how magnificent the birds were. So when I started doing photography, I went back to the same place to shoot kingfishers," says Alan.
4. In one outing, the photographer took up to 600 pictures, but none of them satisfied him.
5. "But now, looking back at the thousands and thousands of photos I took to get this one shot, I realize how much work was done to achieve the result," adds McFadden.
