A single mother built a house with her children, following video instructions on YouTube

Meet this brave woman and single mother of four children who built a house with her own hands — Kara Brookins. After two marriages, where cruelty and violence reigned, as well as harassment by a man with a mental disorder, Kara realized that she and her children needed to change something. "I was ashamed, I was very worried that my children have low self-esteem and almost no self-confidence."

And then the woman decided that her family needed to start from scratch. Unfortunately, Kara couldn't afford to buy a new house, but that didn't stop her. Having neither experience nor the slightest knowledge in the field of construction, the woman built a house with her own hands.

It all started in 2007, when Kara drove past a tornado-damaged house, from which only the foundation remained.

"I remember thinking then: "What if we had a plot of land and drywall? What would our dream home look like? Would we want to build it?""

Kara took out a bank loan for $ 150,000 for materials, watched a bunch of videos on building with her own hands on YouTube (you can also learn something else on YouTube), enlisted the support and help of her children — and together they built a house for themselves.

At the time of construction, the children were 17, 15, 11 and 2 years old.

Kara's family has become stronger than ever.

Kara and her children have been living in their mansion for 8 years.

Now Kara calls her children nothing but "fearless".
