A poignant photo project about impoverished Ukraine

"50 hryvnias" — the project of the Ukrainian photographer Roman Pashkovsky. The essence of the project is to reveal the society of people who live in a country on the verge of poverty. Leaflets were scattered around Kiev with an offer to pay 50 hryvnias to anyone who would come to his studio to shoot for a portrait.

16 people responded to the photographer's ad. After the photo shoot, Roman asked them one question: how will they spend the earned 50 hryvnia. The answers were different.

Alla Pavlovna, 82 years old. Will spend money on fruit. He loves persimmons most of all

Ivan, 41 years old. Will spend money on cigarettes, eggs, bread, pepsi

Vladislav, 17 years old. Will continue to save for a slow cooker — a gift for mom

Anatoly, 46 years old. Will pay off part of the debt for the leather jacket that he is wearing

Anna Borisovna, 45 years old. Will pay by mobile phone or Internet

Anatoly, 37 years old. He will buy chocolate for his beloved daughter

Alexander, 30 years old. Buy medicine for a sore throat

Evgenia, 21 years old. Unemployed, will buy cigarettes — Camel or Bond

Oleg Viktorovich, 43 years old. Will buy 150 grams of his child's favorite waffle cake

Oksana is 42 years old (Oleg's wife, brought her husband literally by the handle). 50 hryvnias will be spent on cookies for the child and will give money to school.

Lyudmila is 58 years old. The actress (missed the attention and filming), 50 hryvnia will spend on travel to "Kyivenergo".

Anatoly is 28 years old. 50 hryvnia will spend on cool clothes in the second, a la Star Wars.

Nikolai is 52 years old. 50 hryvnias will be spent on eating.

Julia is 38 years old. 50 hryvnias will be spent on a piece of cheese with holes and a banana.
