A British woman married a cat so that they would not be separated

Today, no one is surprised by people's marriages with animals, objects, and even with themselves. Such cases occur regularly in the world and the news reader only yawns. But the case of Deborah Hodge, a 49-year-old resident of the UK, is special. This woman married her own cat not for the sake of hype, but so that both of them would not lose a roof over their heads.

Deborah lives in London, in a rented apartment. Property owners are categorically against pets. They, threatening eviction, forced the dog and cat lover Hodge to give three animals into good hands. With the fourth favorite, a cat named India, the British woman categorically refused to part.

To circumvent the ban, Hodge married her five-year-old cat India. The wedding ceremony was held in a narrow circle in one of the parks in south-east London. Deborah wore an elegant tuxedo for the occasion, and decorated the cat with a bow tie. A woman's friend acted as the host of an unusual wedding.

There weren't many guests—Deborah's closest friends. The woman does not hide the bewilderment on the faces of those present. She even admits that the guests thought she was crazy. But this does not bother Hodge, who dotes on her soulmate:

In the new apartment where the British woman has been living for 5 years, she also had to part with her pet. While the landlord allowed to keep one cat. But the fact is that Deborah's lease ends on May 1 and the woman is afraid that the owner of the living space will not want to renew it. Not so long ago, Hodge lost her job and the prospect of being left without a roof over her head is very frightening. But parting with India is even scarier for her.

Despite the fear of losing her home, Deborah claims that if she is faced with a choice, she will not hesitate to move to live on the street. Parting with a cat is scarier for her than becoming homeless.
