With its creepy feel and roster of characters including witches, zombies, and vampires, this is the season we all love.
Here are eight of the scariest horror movies to watch this Halloween season.

1. Texas chainsaw massacre.
Forget about all the remakes, sequels, and prequels this Halloween - the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre is worth watching. Although, if you are alone in the house and someone knocks on the door, you might jump! Such an infamous film needs no introduction, but for those who haven't seen it yet, get ready. It is about a family of hippie-hating maniacs who love meat hooks, bone furniture, and hacking people with a chainsaw.
2. House of the devil.
This is a more recent 2009 film that shows modern horror is just as good on Halloween. It cleverly mimics the look and feel of 1980s horror. The main story follows a bankrupt student, Samantha, who takes on what at first glance appears to be a simple job of babysitting. However, things soon start to get weird and she has to use all her wits to survive what this strange couple has in store for her.
3. Descent.
The descent is a great choice, here a group of women goes to the caves in North Carolina. Once there, however, they realize that they are not alone and are quickly pursued by what lurks underground.
4. Twenty-eight days later.
The story revolves around a mysterious virus accidentally released into the world, its rapid spread, and the collapse of society. Zombies, not slow idiots, but lightning-fast killers!
5. Friday the 13th.
A true classic horror franchise to dive into if you dare is the Friday the 13th movie. Although they have gotten worse over the years, the first movie from 1980 is a really good movie. Starring a memorable bad guy in a hockey mask.
6. Scream.
The original 1996 Scream felt like a fresh start for horror films and is certainly good. The movie's masked killer became a cult bad boy, and the first movie inevitably led to sequels.
7. Halloween.
Truth be told, any part of this franchise is a good bet for movie entertainment as Halloween approaches. While the original is still arguably the best of the bunch, John Carpenter has really made his mark.
8. Nightmare on Elm Street.
This is another infamous movie that scared adults and kids alike in the 1980s. As such, this is the perfect horror movie to enjoy this Halloween. The story revolves around the dead pervert Freddy Krueger, who is murdered by the parents of the children he was accused of molesting.
