6 lifeless places on earth

At an altitude of 2799 meters above sea level, several volcanoes rise with a large number of craters. The most delightful of them is Kawah Ijen with a beautiful turquoise lake about 1 kilometer in diameter and up to 200 meters deep. But don't let this beauty fool you. The pH value or pH of water in the lake is less than 0.3. For those to whom this indicator does not mean anything, let's give an example: the electrolyte in lead-acid batteries has a pH value of less than 1. That is, in fact, it is not water, but acid floats in the lake, thanks to which it has such a beautiful color. Any organism, even a metal tin can instantly dissolve in this "water".
At the bottom of the crater, fumaroles formed - funnels, cracks that serve as sources of hot gases. The temperature in them can reach up to 245 degrees Celsius. (Photo: Paul Cowell/flickr.com).
NĂĄmaskard is a region in the north of Iceland, which is located at the foot of the Namafjall mountain - this is the land of volcanoes and geysers in its purest form. Here, living organisms have no chance for vegetation, so it is not surprising that this active geothermal area is one of the most terrifying landscapes on Earth. The entire surface here is covered with bubbling mud, over which sulfur clouds of steam creep, and volcanoes emit poisonous gases. (Photo: John Freeman/flickr.com).
This place looks like hell on earth, but the locals call it the "Gateway to Valhalla", which, according to the Icelandic sagas, is considered a local paradise ... (Photo: Sven Broeckx / flickr.com).
There is a corner in the Caribbean paradise islands that will cause admiration for some, horror for others. Above the emerald almost boiling waters, steam containing a large amount of sulfur spreads. The water temperature near the shore is more than 91 degrees Celsius. (Photo: Göran Höglund/flickr.com).
No one has yet been able to measure the temperature of the water in the very middle of the lake, because boiling water is constantly gurgling there. (Photo: GentYann/flickr.com).
Death Valley is the driest and lowest place in the United States. In July 1913, a temperature of almost 57 degrees Celsius was recorded here, this was the record for the highest temperature on Earth, which was not broken for a long time. The name of the valley fully corresponds to the prevailing conditions here. One of the most beautiful places in Death Valley is Zabriskie Point (pictured). (Photo: Joe Ganster/flickr.com).
8. Another beautiful and chilling place in Death Valley is Badwater. High temperatures in these places - an average of about 50 degrees Celsius - do not give living organisms a chance for active life. (Photo: Kendra Karr/flickr.com).
Landscapes of the Namib Desert - withered acacias against the backdrop of orange-red dunes - this is one of the most emblematic places on Earth. Dead Vlei is located in the Sossussvlei National Park in Namibia. It is part of the vast Namib Desert, which gave the country its name. (Photo: Cedric Guilleminot/flickr.com).

The Dead Sea is below sea level and every year it drops by another 1 meter. The coast of the sea is the lowest piece of land on Earth. It is also one of the saltiest bodies of water on the planet. The salinity of the lake is so high that it makes life impossible for almost all living organisms in it, with the exception of some unicellular algae.
The shores of the Dead Sea are dotted with very beautiful salt crystals, but walking barefoot on them is not so pleasant.
