6. Run into pickpockets.

There is nothing worse than being in a foreign country, thousands of kilometers from home, without documents, credit cards, or telephones. Avoid wearing expensive designer clothes and bags unless you want to attract pickpockets. Divide your valuables into different bags, leave something in the hotel safe, consider buying a special money belt, and always keep an eye on your belongings.
