These pictures once again prove this rule. After all, mothers and daughters are even more similar to them than they could think.
Aging does not have the best effect on women's appearance. Over the years, bright eyes gradually dim, shiny hair turns gray, and smooth skin becomes wrinkled.
It's even harder to see this when you have a daughter nearby - who looks like you did when you were young - a constant reminder of your lost beauty. Meanwhile, your daughter watches aging with curiosity. Because, after all, you are a living picture of what's ahead of her.
These mothers and daughters thought they were different from each other. But that was until their portraits were combined using a computer.
And this is what happened.
Left: Sarah Pearson, 62, a mother of three from London and owner of a PR company. Right: Her 30-year-old daughter Clemmie, director of her mother's agency, also lives in London.
Sarah thinks her daughter Clemmie is much more beautiful than she ever was when she was younger, and Clemmie says she'll be happy if she looks like her mom as she gets older.
Left: Josie O'Rourke, 48, works as a deputy bookmaker manager. She is separated from her husband and lives in Hastings, East Sussex. Right: Her daughter Jodie Clarke O'Rourke, 24, is a manager and lives in Stratford, East London.
Josie cannot come to terms with the aging process, especially since she was very attractive in her youth. The woman has been undergoing Botox treatments every year for the past six years. However, Jodie thinks her mom is still great.
Left: Esther Savage, 73, retired. She is married and lives on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. Right: Her 43-year-old daughter, Wendy Brake, works as a children's consultant and lives with her three-year-old son on the same island.
Esther stopped caring about her appearance after she got married and had children. Wendy sees aging as liberating.
Left: Frances Dunscombe, 83, is a former stay-at-home mom turned model. She lives in Surrey and has one daughter, Tineka Fox (right), 57, who is married with three adult children. She also lives in Surrey.
Frances still feels young and loves to dance around the house to music. She never thought she looked like her daughter until she saw the computer graphics. Tineka thinks her mother always looked stunning. She says she was fortunate to inherit her mother's good genes and healthy habits.
Left: Model Rhonda Mackintosh, 45, lives with her husband and two children in Glasgow. Right: Her 15-year-old daughter Darcy.
Rhonda says that when she looks at Darcy, she clearly sees herself in her youth, and it's like going back in time. At the same time, Darcy admits that this similarity surprised her very much.
