The choice of representatives of today's generation is influenced by factors such as housing affordability, ease of moving, freedom of personal choice, as well as the diversity of culture and entertainment aspects of life in the city.
The German housing search company Nestpick conducted an analysis of 110 cities in order to identify the most popular destinations among the so-called millennials.
The criteria for selection are as simple as possible: is there a job in the city? Can a person with average income afford to live comfortably there? How open and tolerant is the urban environment? And, importantly, is there somewhere to have fun?
13. San Francisco
San Francisco, which has become the informal capital of Silicon Valley, closes the list. A developed business ecosystem helped the city to enter the top cities for the young and enterprising, which means a chance to launch a startup of your dreams.
12. BristolBristol, a seaside city in the south of the United Kingdom with a population of less than half a million people, is ready to offer young people an active nightlife, as well as a fairly tolerant cultural and clean environment.
11. Hamburg
The Northern harbor of Germany is often inferior to other popular destinations for living in the country, but stands out for its alternative cultural environment, active student and nightlife.
10. Manchester
9. Cologne
Cologne attracts young people from different parts of Europe with its openness, rich cultural platform and, of course, the famous Gothic cathedral.
8. New YorkPerhaps it is not surprising that the city, whose residents traditionally set trends for fashion and new types of urban establishments, scored a lot of points on the scale of the business ecosystem. In addition, New York has good indicators for vital needs, including the availability of education and the speed of Internet connection.
7. Barcelona
The tourist capital of Spain pleases young people with its rich cultural scene, warm weather and a variety of leisure activities. In addition, it is far from the most expensive city in Europe, while offering a wide range of delicious food.
6. Vancouver
Like all the other cities from Canada, included in the list, Vancouver is distinguished by its friendly policy towards visitors and good availability of work.5. Toronto
Among other advantages, such as a high standard of living and well-being, as well as more affordable health insurance compared to the United States, Toronto is famous for its cultural and music scene, in particular a large selection of festivals.
4. Amsterdam
One of the most popular cities in Europe has dropped from the previously occupied first place — probably due to high prices and barely affordable housing — but this has not ceased to please with its openness, freedom of choice and abundance of culture.
3. LondonAccording to the rating, the capital of Great Britain offers the best platform in the world for higher education and, moreover, is not inferior to San Francisco in the ease of doing business and launching startups. London also provides huge freedom of choice and a rich cultural environment, but rising housing prices and government restrictions on immigration keep the city from rising to a pedestal.
2. Montreal
Almost sharing the overall lead, Canadian Montreal is famous for its openness and variety of entertainment life, but lags behind in terms of transport infrastructure.
1. Berlin
The first place this year belongs to the capital of Germany. Berlin is currently considered the most attractive city to live and work in many ways at once, including an active nightlife, a rich creative platform for artists, ease of doing business and launching their own projects, tolerance to minorities and cultural environment. The city is also convenient for living in terms of transport, offers a good higher education and does not burden its residents with high prices for housing and food.
