12 islands with amazing outlines
By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/12-islands-with-amazing-outlines.htmlNatural objects very often have the most unexpected and bizarre shapes. Some immediately catch the eye, others can only be noticed if you are at a sufficiently large distance from the object.
Islands always have a very complex shape, which also changes from year to year. Some of them have such bizarre and expressive outlines that any professional landscape designer will envy.
Dolphin Island
This is one of the small coral islands located near the Indonesian island of Flores, part of the Lesser Sunda Islands group.
Islands-smiley
The uninhabited islands of Manukan, Mamutik and Sulug, belonging to Malaysia, have formed a cheerful smiley face that you can admire while flying by plane over the South China Sea.
Boomerang Atoll
This atoll, curved in the form of a boomerang, is also located in the South China Sea. It belongs to the Spratly Islands, which includes more than 750 coral reefs and small islets that constantly change their shape depending on the time of year and the strength of currents.
Seahorse Island
This photo of the Galapagos Islands was taken from space in 2002 using a MODIS device installed on board a NASA satellite. A huge "seahorse" is Isabela – the largest and youngest of the Galapagos Islands. There are 6 volcanoes on the island (4 of which are active) and about two thousand people live.
Eye Island
This amazing eye "looks" from the ocean at the planes flying over the Maldives. However, some are sure that the island looks more like a huge jellyfish.
Stingray Island
This bizarre "stingray" is located in the Kattegat Strait, separating the eastern coast of Jutland from the southwestern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula.
Island-lungs
To connect the shape of this coral island belonging to the Florida Keys archipelago with the human lung, you need a fair knowledge of anatomy. In the very center of this wonderful "lung" some lucky guy built a luxury villa. Living in such a place definitely guarantees perfect lung health.
Island - carnival mask
This is how the Maldivian island of Huvahendu looks from the air. A special resemblance to the ornate carnival half mask gives the island a lot of houses for tourists, located right in the shallow water. The Maldives includes more than a thousand coral islands rising no more than 2 meters above the surface of the water. The rising sea level caused by global warming primarily threatens these islands, whose permanent population is more than 300 thousand people.
Carrot Island
This green "carrot" without tops was photographed by photographer Badruddin, flying out of Male International Airport in the Maldives.
Island-Bonsai tree
If you look closely, then in the outlines of the island of Scilly, located off the coast of the English county of Cornwall, you can see a miniature pot, a lush crown, and a short stem. The main glory of this island is the beautiful beaches, considered the best in the UK.
Medusa Island
This jellyfish has spread its sandy and coral tentacles in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Heart Island
A stylized heart is very common not only on Valentine's cards, but also among natural objects. The shape of an almost perfect heart is demonstrated by the Croatian island of Galeshniak in the Adriatic Sea. This island is privately owned. The name of its owner is Vlado Giuresco.
