By Vika https://pictolic.com/article/10-of-my-favorite-mini-cut-paper-creations.htmlHi! My name is Alisa. I am a graphic designer living in Northern California. I love making things. Right now I am having fun with cut paper.
First, I roughly sketch out the design. Then draw it on the computer and break it into shapes. I chose the right paper color for the different shapes (I have a file cabinet filled with colorful cardstock). I use my Cricut, X-acto knife, and fine mini scissors to cut out the paper shapes. Then I build it, gluing the pieces often with tweezers and my glue that has a super fine tip. Lots of trial and error goes into these pieces.
It is very fun to design and build these mini-scenes. I hope you enjoy them!

I have always loved working with paper, whether it's making paper from pulp, or paper mache, creating structural paper packaging designs, bookmaking, or now cutting paper collages. It’s a flexible medium with endless possibilities.

#3 Tiny Fishbowl
The most rewarding part of designing and building these petite scenes is the actual work. It takes a lot of trial and error to get it right. Some of the pieces are so tiny that I have to use my X-acto blade and magnifying glass to get them right. It’s fun trying to figure out what to make and how to build it. It is very satisfying when it all comes together as I imagined. I love giving them away and having people surprised and excited to see them.

The most challenging part of the creative process is not having enough time to bring all of the ideas in my mind to life. I have a sketchbook full of scenes to create. I am slowly making my way through the designs and continually adding new ideas.
#6 Aquarium
#7 Flower Garden
The inspiration for these mini-creations comes from all around me. They often come from people I know. If I want to make a gift for someone, I think of what they would like. For example, I have a cousin who forages for mushrooms, so I made her a forest scene. My son loves to garden, so I made the garden scene for him. My aunt was having a difficult time, so I made the planter box full of flowers for her. My neighbor's dog passed away, so I made her a little dog. I try to think of interesting scenes that will translate well onto paper. The aquarium was a great example, with so many options for color and detail.
