By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/10-erotic-movies-that-are-much-better-than-50-shades-of-gray.htmlThe success of Fifty Shades of Gray proved that sex still sells, with $569 million at the box office plus a record-breaking opening of $85 million on opening day. By June 2015, the book had been translated into over 150 languages and had sold over 125 million copies.
But the film also received a lot of negative criticism for the "unhealthy" relationship between the main character and her dominant partner. Healthy or not, but the people went, looked, and liked it (although not everyone). However, "50 Shades of Grey" is not the only "hot" movie that deserves your attention. If you are yearning for the good old erotica, you are welcome to view these movie masterpieces.

1. “Secretary” is probably the closest film to “50 Shades of Grey” in spirit. Lee Holloway (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal) gets a job as a secretary to the hero of James Spader, whose name, by the way, is Edward Gray. They end up developing a deep and sophisticated BDSM relationship (mostly because the Holloway secretary turned out so-so). In many spicy scenes, the film builds up its sexual intensity, and the viewer is in constant (albeit pleasant) tension, watching the relationship of the main characters.
2. Life of Adele tells the story of a young girl, Adele, who explores the nature of her sexual desire. Frightened by their homosexual impulses, Adele and Emma enter into a relationship with each other, despite the contempt of friends. Over time, their love affair fades, although there is a special touch of eroticism in the film. They say the film gives the impression that all the barriers around young lovers have been removed, and their bodies become closer and more familiar than our own. This level of intimacy is very important to the film, as close-up shots during sex scenes are unlikely to allow the viewer to distance themselves from what is happening on the screen.
3. The film "Empire of the Senses" directed by Nagisa Oshima tells the story of a young, sexually active girl who finds herself in a traditional Japanese brothel, where she falls in love with one of the clients. Thus begins their intricate journey into the world of eroticism, fetishism and betrayal. Be prepared for the fact that the film pushes, and sometimes simply breaks all the boundaries of what is permitted. And get ready for the bloody scenes - it's the Japanese ...
4. One of the newest films on this list is Nymphomaniac: Part 2 (actually, these are two films over 4 hours long). The main character Jo (played by Charlotte Gainsbourg) is a nymphomaniac, and yes, the film is not shy about sex. Aside from a star-studded cast of big names, amazing directing and great cinematography, the film is beautifully balanced on the edge of art and vulgarity. It can be said that this is more of a scary guide to sexual nightmares than a traditional narrative.
5. The IKU movie tells the story of a robot named Reiko (played by various actresses) who goes to Tokyo to collect orgasms, which are then resold to people in the form of pills that give a sense of sexual satisfaction. The film breaks all the norms previously accepted regarding sex on the screen, combining futuristic (at the time - the film was released in 2001) special effects with the explicit erotic content of a modern adult film. The film weaves the real and the surreal, providing a dystopian look at what sexual technology could lead to. This is no ordinary erotic film. It will most likely confuse you.
6. Sailors. Brothels. Knives. Cardboard decorations. Painted phalluses. Would you like to watch a film about homosexuals of the late 70s - early 80s? Then this painting called "Querel" is for you. This is the story of a sailor who is in search of his brother in a city famous for its strange sexuality. The film has a surprising amount of murder, betrayal, and some pretty funny sex scenes. Since the film came out just before the AIDS epidemic in the 80s, it serves as an important historical document that shows what "weird sexuality" was like before the epidemic. It was pretty goofy.
7. "Shame" is a heartbreaking story about nymphomaniacs from New York. Brandon Sullivan (played by Michael Fassbender) avoids being close to his family and friends. Director Steve McQueen managed to create a film that draws the viewer in such a way that it is impossible to tear oneself away. The sex scenes in Shame serve as a gateway to the world of tragedy that addiction can lead to. A must see for Michael Fassbender fans. The film strikes a delicate balance between sex scenes and an emotional plot.
8. "Romance X". You got married. You are unhappy. Your husband, though still attractive, has ceased to satisfy you. He doesn't even try. What to do? Find out that you can have an affair with the boss. Quiet film about BDSM and seduction. The film is unceremonious, it shows both sides of sex - both pleasant and discouraging, both beautiful and terrible. This is a real French art house - fearless, seductive and innovative.
9. Thriller "Stay in my shoes" with Scarlett Johansson excites in many ways. In this film, Johansson plays an unnamed alien who has come to Scotland in search of men. There is little dialogue in the film; most of the supporting actors filmed with hidden cameras, leaving Johansson to do his job. Cinematically, the film is amazing. Long shots of naked Scarlett Johansson are not a joke to you, and the finale will make you open your mouth in surprise.
10. Bilitis is a beautiful French romantic drama by photographer David Hamilton. It's probably best described as a soft pornographic film about a young Bilitis (played by Patty D'Arbanville) who spends the summer with her father's friends and accidentally falls in love with her guardian. Bilitis experiments with several partners, but for a long time she cannot find herself sexually. Since the director was a photographer first and foremost, the film is like one big photograph - a beautiful, captivating journey into the world of youthful sex life.
