Women's stories in the sensual and emotional portraits of Nina Milke
Before starting to create, Nina Milke went through many serious trials. She was left alone with a child, for a long time she could not find her way in creativity, and then, when she found it, she broke her main instrument. But everything gradually got better, and for self-expression, a tablet was enough, on which Nina drew not with a stylus, but with a finger. Suddenly, what I was doing became in demand, so much so that I had to open my own store.
Nina says that she found herself as an artist after becoming a single mother. At first, she made collages in Photoshop – her goal was to create her own, special deck of tarot cards. Nothing happened with the cards, but Milke began to draw.
She bought a used iPad graphics tablet and started experimenting. The aspiring artist posted her works on Instagram, and users liked them. When Milke's account already had 8 thousand followers, the stylus from her tablet broke. There was no money to buy a new one, and it seemed to Nina that it was not worth continuing. Fortunately, this was only a short stage of despair.
And Nina decided to start over and create works against all odds. She started a new Instagram account, in which she first published her old photos and collages. And then she decided and started drawing on the tablet... with her finger.
The heroines of Nina Milke's paintings are ordinary girls living in the city. It seems that the theme is not too original, but the artist so accurately conveys the mood that her works become special.
Nina Milke's paintings are somewhat similar to the works of the American artist Yaoyao Ma Wang As, who also draws girls and their daily life.
