Woman sews a special doll for children with disabilities
For a child, a doll is always a joy, and the most memorable toy. But imagine if the doll was like a child — plus, a unique child with special needs? American Amy Jandrisevits doing a very good job — she sews dolls for children with disabilities. All these plush men have an important mission — to support special children and give them a glimmer of good.
More than a year ago American Amy Jandrisevits, a former social worker, started my project A Like Me Doll ("Doll like me"). Since then, the woman sews and sends his toys to kids around the world. Doll Amy have the same personality as their owners.
Usually the kids are in awe of little copies of themselves, and older kids often can't hold back my tears, seeing a doll like himself, and with the same features. All dolls Amy has an important mission — to show children that it is unique and beautiful the way he is.
Her first doll Amy had done about five years ago, and since then it has become her main hobby.
Orders Amy painted for the next two years. She puts a piece of soul in every doll, because for her, as for the future owner is not just a toy. Woman makes dolls right in your living room. As an avid doll collector and a former social worker for pediatric Oncology, Amy easily combines love for children, craft and social work.
Amy hopes that her project can inspire people around the world to pay attention to how I perceive people with disabilities, and to help such people to ensure their own uniqueness.
