Wild soldiers: Russian photographer showed how soldiers turn into animals

Categories: Photo project |

Moscow photographer Alexander Khokhlov presented an impressive series of portraits of military personnel called "Wild Soldiers" (Wild Soldiers). The pictures are dedicated to the idea that people turn into animals during the war.

The project, in which Natalia Pavlova and Ulyana Makhtyuk took part as makeup artists, and Veronika Ershova was the retoucher, shows half—painted faces of soldiers - to simulate wild creatures, including cruel lions and frightening tigers. Flawless photos, make-up, special effects and props allow the pictures of the series to evoke resonance on an emotional level in the viewer.

The ultimate goal of these figurative portraits of soldiers is to emphasize that "it is impossible to kill people and at the same time preserve your human appearance. War changes people, turning them into dangerous, cruel and unpredictable animals."
