Why is a bloody Nicolas Cage running through the woods with a chainsaw

It looks like the situation may change this year. In a couple of months, a new, very strange thriller "Mandy" will be released. Despite the small budget of the film, Cage played a major role in it.
Nicolas Cage is also familiar to everyone due to the huge number of memes with his participation. It is possible that this film will become a prerequisite for their creation. So far, according to the trailer that has appeared on the web, only one thing is clear: Cage is very serious this time.
In the story, the woodcutter Red (Nicolas Cage) lives with his wife Mandy in the woods. Everything goes smoothly until a real evil appears in their habitat in the form of a hellish biker gang. After seeing Red's wife once, the gang leader falls in love with her at first sight and forces his charges to kidnap the woman. When the job is done, Mandy is drugged and burned in a ritual ceremony. Red takes the only right decision in his opinion: to take revenge.
After watching the trailer, the question arises: is this all a joke of the creators on the audience or are they serious? This conclusion follows from the plot of the film itself.
