What do the girls who came to work in Hollywood look like
Anoush Abrar, a Swiss photographer of Iranian origin, has created an interesting photo project called "Californication", which tells about young Hollywood girls who are ready to do anything just to become famous and get to the star Olympus. Abrar returned to Hollywood several times, each time amazed at how much people are attracted to fame and wealth and what they are willing to do to achieve them.
The photographer decided to focus on women, believing that he "feels" that they have a better chance of success.
However, these chances result only in appearances on TV shows, in commercials, underwear advertising campaigns and on the spread of erotic calendars.
His photographs reveal the whole reality of the world that these girls were so eager to enter.
Often they have to pose almost naked for male photographers and at the same time live in motels or cheap apartments, because they have come from far away and cannot afford better housing yet.
Abrar meets with these "fame seekers" at auditions and various events.
Some come to him by themselves when he advertises for a free photo shoot.
"With the help of body care, constant training in gyms and even plastic surgery, they are trying to create the perfect picture that would suit producers and big shots in the world of show business," says the photographer.
"I don't blame them. I'm just a bystander."
"I think they are victims of circumstances and their own desires."
Girls are chasing the idea of perfection of beauty, which is so common in Hollywood.
Another meaningless photo shoot.
"Hollywood is a world in which any visibility is beneficial and equates to success," says Abrar.
All these girls will go to great lengths just to reach their "heights".
Often they will not get further than the covers for cheap men's magazines and car dealerships.
Fame seekers have long been victims of the Hollywood machine.
Such girls spend all their days running from casting to casting, and will stop at nothing just to light up.
This photo project took Abrar ten years and six trips to Hollywood.
