We met thanks to the Internet
Just over a year ago photographer Jenna Cambo began working on a photo project about couples who met online. She called him "We met online". The project began gradually: at first, Jenna only photographed his friends who met online. But then learned about it and the other – unknown to her people. And now the project has gained popularity and growing every day.
Mariela and Thiago. Mariela – a self-taught photographer who moved to new York in 2011, from the Dominican Republic. Thiago since childhood, works as a carpenter. Met a couple of weeks, they decided to live together. And four months later they got engaged. Now they have matching tattoos. "We have gotten the word "love" hands". (Jena Cumbo)
Nikki and Mellila. Once Nikki saw a photo in Instagram Mallery, and a portrait of her so much that she put it on the desktop of your tablet. Blog dedicated to the hair, Nikki saw some Mallelu and tried to reach her, even knowing that the girl is on the desktop and the girl from the blog — it is one and the same person. In the end, they met in the real world, and away we go... she didn't know that seeing a woman whose photograph is on her desktop, while Mallya showed her a few photos of the stand series on your phone.
Donna and Jess. Donna doesn't remember what chat met Jess back in 1997, but she remembered his nickname. "There was 47, and I thought maybe it's my age... Why I wrote "hi"". First five months they communicated by phone and email, and then met in person at the Mall in Syracuse, new York.
Lily and David. Lily's mother has created for her profile on a Dating site. Lily says in a profile there was a lot of lies, but she still went on a couple of dates, which her mother had assigned to her. Lily was about to close the account when its parent "introduced" her to David. "I didn't want my mother was right," says Lily. But Lily and David have been married for two years.
Ryan and Nelson. "Why I wrote some stranger on Facebook?", — says Ryan. He wrote Nelson's message, and the conversation on the website almost instantly turned into a date in reality. They liked each other from the first minute. The Nelson has a daughter from a previous relationship. Ryan says her daughter has played a major role in their acquaintance.
Taylor and Jonathan. Model and photographer Taylor and hair stylist Jonathan met on Grindr is a special app created for the gay and bi. The profile of Taylor was immediately interested in Jonathan. "He stood out, because it was not just the usual "sucker" from Chelsea. It's like I felt that we come to each other, as friends or as lovers," says Jonathan.
Jay and Ashley. "I thought she was very pretty, says Jay. – And was intrigued by". He especially liked her eyes. Ashley says she's too crazy about the eyes of Jay. "I didn't want to rush, she says. – He was polite and all, and I liked his tattoos, so I was hoping that this relationship turn into something more."
Cavanna and David. In 2011 Giovanna started to write David, who at that time was in prison. She wasn't looking for romance, just wanted to be friends. She recalls that the profile of David differed from "terrible" and often false profiles other prisoners. David was sentenced to 10 years in prison for hacking. "I worked as a programmer and got caught on one of the most notorious cases of the 2000s".
Katherine and David. David and Catherine met on MySpace in 2006. Catherine had just moved to Boston and saw a random profile of David, who claimed that he was able to lose weight. Catherine is also pretty thin, so they had something to talk about. They corresponded several times a day, and then David invited her on a date. "I still remember – it was orange coat, and she was so nice," recalls David.
Donna and John. Donna wrote to John on the weekend, and he invited her to a movie. John said that she loved him, and he struggled, tried to behave naturally. "Then I got really nervous and in the end a couple of times I stepped on her leg."
Cora and will. Cora met will on Craiglist (free ads), but not in Dating. "I just moved to new York, and I didn't even have furniture. Besides, I really didn't know anyone in the city. And will posted an ad about free movie tickets, which he won online." Cora will have written a letter about the tickets, and he answered. A week later, they decided to meet at a cafe. Cora waited 50 minutes and was ready to leave, but will still come. "I had to run almost all the way, because my cab got stuck in traffic. I walked out too early and eventually turned the wrong way," says will. Now they have two children.
Corianna and David. David went on Craiglist in search of someone with whom you could go to a baseball game. Coriana looked on Craiglist "after a few glasses of wine." She texted him, he replied, after that, the conversation came to a halt. But then David told Corinne about yourself, and it helped her relax. They decided to meet. "First and second meetings between was a spark," recalls David.
