On the window of restaurants in Japan, as in many other countries of the world, it is customary to exhibit enticing culinary samples. Looking at the mouth-watering cakes, seafood and full-fledged dishes presented behind glass, it is very difficult to believe that these are just layouts made of vinyl. The largest producer of such dishes is the Iwasaki factory in Yokohama. Every year, 270,000 samples are produced there for 20,000 restaurants around the world. The skill of local workers is impressive — even just looking at the photos below, you involuntarily think about the refrigerator.
The photo report from the Iwasaki factory was prepared by Getty Images photographer Chris McGrath.
