Deputies of the Sverdlovsk region supported their Belgorod colleagues with a proposal to prohibit the seals from performing a phalanx amputation operation. According to one of the participants of the legislative assembly, people who perform onychectomy on pets are real "barbarians", and their only goal is to protect their "expensive sofas, dresses and carpets" from scratches.

Deputies from the Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk region on agrarian policy called for a ban on operations that mutilate cats. We are talking about the so—called onychectomy - a procedure for the complete removal of claws in animals. As a rule, it is made for pets who like to let out their claws. This is a rather complicated surgical intervention, and, as the deputies are sure, it cripples seals, actually depriving them of parts of their fingers.

For the first time, the idea to ban onychectomy arose in the Belgorod Regional Duma. Local deputies have prepared a bill demanding to ban a number of surgical procedures for animals. Onychectomy, which is affectionately called "soft paws", also got on their list.

The Sverdlovsk deputies agreed with their colleagues and submitted the relevant bill for consideration. By the way, one of the deputies came to the meeting with his cat. Agree that it's very cute!

The essence of this operation is the complete removal of the terminal phalanx with a claw. The procedure is performed in a veterinary clinic under general anesthesia. Immediately before this, the animal must starve for 12 hours.

After the operation, a recovery period begins: about a week the pet needs to take antibiotics and painkillers. When the bandages are removed from the paws, they need to be treated with hydrogen peroxide until the wound is completely healed.
