Tyumen VIP-hut for a hundred a month, or Our answer to European prisons
We are used to being surprised by the cozy and comfortable cells in which inmates in Norway, Denmark or the Netherlands serve their sentences. What if we tell you that conditions in our prisons are not worse, but even better? Absurd, you say? Then look at how, until recently, an ordinary VIP prisoner spent time in one of the maximum security colonies in Tyumen.
Photos of a cozy room appeared on the official resource of the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR), which is something in between the office of the director of the company and the nursery of a high school student from a wealthy family.
In a leather chair after lights out, it is especially pleasant to indulge in thoughts about correction
The explanation to the pictures says that it was in such conditions that one of the prisoners of the Tyumen high-security colony served his sentence from March 2018 to May 2019. Of course, the convict did not receive such special conditions for good behavior and hard work in production. Every month he paid the head of the colony 100 thousand rubles, apparently for renting an "apartment".
The room can be called a studio, because it even has its own small kitchen
The investigation showed that a well-furnished room was equipped specifically for one of the prisoners at the workshop located on the territory of the colony. All interior work and the purchase of furniture was paid for by the future "tenant", by transferring funds "from the will" to the account of the head of the colony.
In addition to comfort, the occupant of the VIP-chamber received many other forbidden privileges. The package of services worth 100 thousand per month included mobile communications, TV, refrigerator and even wireless Internet. Most likely, an air conditioner would have appeared in the room in the summer, but the shop was closed during an unscheduled inspection of the colony at the end of spring, and the apartment inhabitant and his hotelier moved to ordinary cells with a parasol in the corner and an iron cot.
A paid camera for a special contingent was hidden behind these unsightly gates
The humanity of the head of the colony and his attempt to introduce European standards in the domestic penitentiary system were not appreciated by the staff of the TFR and soon the "owner" himself will become an inhabitant of one of the Russian colonies. The chief was charged under part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Receiving a bribe on a particularly large scale", which for him implies a long and very exciting stay in prison.
It turns out that the strict regime in the Russian colonies is not equally strict with everyone. This is what the crab-eating Heron, who recently threw whole picnics with seafood, exotic delicacies and kebabs in places not so remote, will be able to tell you best of all.
