Passion and prose of life in "Disappointment"

In the plot, as in a rollicking blockbuster, there is everything: a rich heiress, a dead fiance, chases and even alcohol addiction. And most importantly – a scandal. The kingdom of Dreamland is preparing for the magnificent wedding of Princess Bean. She, having other plans, runs away from the church, accidentally killing the groom. The victim's brother is called to replace him. He pursues the bride, taking a squad of knights.

The fugitive has two accomplices – an angel and a demon. The role of the angel went to the ever-aching elf Elfo. The harmful little devil Lucik was with the princess by the will of powerful sorcerers. His mission is the main mystery of the series. The princess breaks the established rules in the fantasy kingdom, wanting to experience adventures available only to men. The team of fugitives is accompanied, and often carried on the back of an ironic horse.

The roads are full of robbers demanding gender loyalty. The groom's brother gives out a misogynistic speech in anger, trying on a wig in the style of Donald Trump's hairstyle.

Matt Groening with his famous characters

Together with co-author Josh Weinstein, he created an animated drama about a teenager. The red line in the plot is the theme of finding yourself, which is exactly what the three fugitives are doing. Despite the severity of the problem, something comedic happens in every scene.

How the "Disappointment" arose

The Simpsons has already demonstrated responsiveness by reacting to real-world events in the new series. Launching an animated action requires many years of preparation. Matt Groening started working on a fantasy cartoon in 2012. He kept separate notebooks for the plot, sketches, descriptions of landscapes and inhabitants of the fabulous Dreamland. Therefore, the variety of fantasy inhabitants of the kingdom is not limited to the familiar orcs and elves. The artist did not expect that the world would explode with laughter from his story in 2018.

Cartoon Longevity Forecasts

Critics do not undertake to predict the new brainchild of 64-year-old Matt Groening the same long-term success as The Simpsons. In the realities of a rapidly changing modernity, 30 years is a long time. The rapidly developing horizontal plot sets the viewer up for a close denouement. Subtle, intelligent humor attracts attention. The new series is not suitable as a backdrop for a noisy party.
