Toilet paper feeding robot, Icartoshka and other achievements of CES 2020 technology
The next CES (Consumer Electronics Show), which is rightfully considered one of the most anticipated annual events in the world of technology, has ended in Las Vegas. Or it was considered, since every year experts express more and more serious bewilderment at the sight of the "achievements" that well-known manufacturers and startups demonstrate at CES.
Traditionally, CES is dedicated to consumer household appliances — refrigerators, televisions, audio systems, stoves and ovens. The exhibition was really useful and moved the industry forward. But in the last couple of years, she can only boast that she regularly generates new memes and amuses users all over the world. What has the World Technology Forum prepared for us this time?
The opening of the year for guests and participants of CES 2020 was the world's first "smart" potato. More precisely, a set of equipment was presented at the exhibition that allows you to equip potatoes with a voice assistant. This very necessary high-tech equipment is an antenna with a built-in chip soldered to the blade and an application for a smartphone.
The inventor, an enthusiast from France, claims that his voice assistant is better than Siri or Google Assistant. The main advantage is that the device takes energy directly from potatoes, without needing batteries and mains power. The second advantage of the creator of the strange device is that it is, after all, alive, unlike smartphones and other gadgets.
The Becon device, presented by Samsung, is designed for those who are not used to evaluating everything "by eye" and love order and accounting in everything. The device from the South Korean technology giant will allow you to control hair loss using a set of sensors and a special algorithm. It determines the age of the bald spot and the intensity of its growth.
At the same time, the smart device compares the age of the bald head with the biological age of the owner. If the bald spot does not suit him for years, then it sounds the alarm and recommends taking emergency measures to save the hairline. The Becon device can offer special diets or choose a set of medical procedures.
Among the many strange and frankly useless junk at CES 2020, there are really good things. What about the RollBot robot, whose only purpose is to serve toilet paper to a careless owner? The assistant has sensitive sensors and a pair of large wheels that enable him to smartly overcome obstacles on the way to the bathroom.
The manufacturer has equipped the RollBot with a friendly bear face, which is very important from the point of view of a person in a desperate situation waiting for emergency help. The robot savior is autonomous - it recharges itself from the dock, like robot vacuum cleaners.
Shower cabins with built-in audio systems in our time will not surprise anyone. What about a separate watering can speaker with a built-in voice assistant? Of course, this is not a "smart" potato, but still a high-tech thing and open to communication.
Kohler Company, which presented this product, assures that now you will be able to ask questions and get answers to them right in the process of taking water procedures. The watering can tell the weather forecast, tell the latest news and even help order pizza. The only disadvantage is low autonomy. Several times a month, the lucky owner of the device will have to unscrew it and put it on charge.
As we have already seen, anything can be smart. So why not give artificial intelligence to a cat tray? This is the question that the designers of LuluPet asked themselves and created a real miracle toilet for pets.
A box with a tray can not only serve as a toilet, but is also able to assess the health of the animal. The device weighs the cat, analyzes the waste products and makes appropriate conclusions. A special smartphone application introduces the pet owner to his condition and keeps statistics. The LuluPet tray is equipped with a voice assistant and can notify whether the pet has gone to the toilet, via a mobile device, a "smart" potato or a shower watering can.
A strange, though not useless device was presented at CES 2020 by Linksys. Its product is an innovative router that not only distributes the Internet at an impressive speed, but also looks after elderly people who are indoors.
The high-precision sensors of this device emit radio signals every 30 seconds that fix the position of a person in the room, as well as taking readings about his pulse and respiratory rate. If the Linksys router detects any deviations from the norm, it will immediately call an ambulance.
The most creepy device at CES 2020 is the Qoobo cat pillow. This product has the appearance of a fur-covered pillow with a tail sticking out of it. Qoobo makes purring sounds and waves its tail in response to touch. Alas, the lack of limbs and a head makes the toy more scary than cute.
Sex accessories at CES 2020 are rare, but if they are, they always delight with their functionality. This year, the special attention of the guests of the event was attracted by the plaster from premature ejaculation Morari. Its creator, Jeff Bennett, is sure that 30% of the male population of the planet suffers from premature ejaculation and wants to radically change their sex life.
The polymer patch Morari, proposed by Bennett, is glued in the perineum and activated at the beginning of sexual intercourse. The electrodes with which the device is equipped affect certain points and delay ejaculation. While the patch is being finalized, the inventor does not know how to teach his offspring to recognize the end of sexual contact and switch off in time.
