Time named the best photobooks of 2015
Time magazine has published a selection of the best photobooks of 2015, selected by renowned photographers, editors, curators and writers, including Magnum Photos member Martin Parr, photographer and Little Brown Mushroom founder Alec Soth, and British curator Susan Bright.
Alec Soth chose Thomas Maylander's Illustrated People, which also previously won Photobook of the Year at the Photobook Awards. “Yes, it’s pretty boring to share a common opinion, but I agree with the choice of the jury from Paris Photo and Aperture Foundation: Illustrated People is really the best photobook of the year,” Soth commented on his choice.
Martin Parr noted André Penteado's Cabanagem: "Cleverly disguised as government documents, this book explores the civil unrest of the 1830s in Brazil."
More often than others, experts noted Mariela Sankari's photo book Moisés, the creation of which was prompted by the death of her father.
In total, the best books of the year included 36 works covering all genres of photography: from documentary photojournalism to experimental projects.
