The pristine beauty of Africa in amazing aerial photos
A fresh look at the African savannah was presented by photographer Zach Seckler in a series of aerial photographs from Botswana, in which he managed to capture the pristine beauty of Africa. Visible from above, from a height of no more than five hundred feet above the ground, salty ponds, vegetation and animals seem fabulous. That's why Zack's photos are so different from the thousands of familiar savannah landscapes taken by other photographers. In this issue, we have collected unique images of the African savannah in the lens of Zack Seckler.
The idea of creating this series of photos came to Zack completely by accident. During his stay in Botswana, connected with the implementation of another project, the photographer had some free time, and he asked his client to show him local attractions. And he offered Zack a walk over savannah by plane. Zack was so impressed by what he saw that he decided to go back there and make a series of landscapes from a bird's-eye view. (Photo: Zack Seckler)
All the pictures were taken from an ultralight aircraft from a height of about 150 meters, so the image on them represents a completely different point of view than in hundreds of other photographs of well-known African landscapes.
Thanks to the unique perspective, objects invisible to those on the ground are presented in the smallest detail from the plane.
"When you fly above the ground at such low altitudes, you have the opportunity to maneuver — it was like sliding through a picture," the photographer described his impressions.
Zach Seckler was born in Boston and studied his craft at Syracuse University.
Later he moved to live in New York and began a career as a photojournalist. His work can be seen in publications such as Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire and New York Magazine.
According to the photographer, inspiration comes to him in a variety of moments - from happy moments on the streets of New York to enjoying the paintings of de Chirico and Magritte.
"Everything that gives me the opportunity to see the world in a different way overwhelms me with creativity."
