Diana Kim grew up in Hawaii, her father was a photographer — it was he who taught her this craft. When her parents separated, Kim started living with friends and relatives and lost contact with her dad: he became missing.

In 2003, Kim took up a large-scale project about the homeless, and in 2013 made a shocking discovery: she found her father among the homeless people she was filming in Honolulu.

"My father suffered from schizophrenia and talked to non—existent people," says Kim.

She started bringing food to Dad and begging him to seek medical help — but he agreed only after a heart attack in October 2014.

Now Kim's father is fine: he continues to be treated, is looking for a part-time job and even plans to visit his relatives in South Korea.
