The owner left the dog at the airport, and she died because of a "broken heart"
The owner of the dog left his pet at the airport in Colombia. The dog spent the last month of his life wandering around the airport in search of an owner, and as a result of severe depression stopped eating and died.
The restless dog from Palonegro Airport was named Nube Viajera, which means "wandering cloud". Veterinarians tried to save her, they took care of the animal to the last. The dog was only about two years old, but after a month of wandering around the airport, sniffing passengers in search of the owner and refusing food and eating, she became so weak that she could barely stand.
Witnesses said that in the last days of his life, the dog gave up trying to find the owner and huddled in a remote corner, refusing to take food and water, which was brought to her by airport staff and passengers. She was finally taken to a veterinary clinic, but despite all efforts, they could not save her.
Dr. Alejandro Sotomonte, who took care of the dog, said that he is convinced that the animal died from the fact that his heart was broken when he was left at the airport. The dog was young, she had no signs of any diseases, except severe depression.
Despite the fact that veterinarians put the dog on a drip with a nutrient solution, over the past 48 hours her health deteriorated rapidly, and depression intensified. Dr. Sotomonte said that dogs can really die from severe depression, as happened with Nube Viajera.
