Norman Mauskopf invites the viewer to look into the Mustang, a legendary brothel in Nevada, which became legal in 1971. Documenting the hot spot from 1987 to the 90s, the photographer made a series of portraits of "girls" in their rooms and captured several visitors.
Norman Mauskopf was born in 1949 in Brooklyn. In addition to teaching at the Art Center of the College of Design in In Pasadena and at numerous seminars on photography, he worked a lot "on the road". Such magazines as Wired, Islands, Travel and Leisure, Outside Magazine and Rolling Stone collaborated with the artist. For some of them, Mauskopf managed to make very interesting series of photos.

In 1967, businessman Joe Conforte became the owner of the Mustang. At first his business was illegal, and in 1971, when prostitution was legalized in Nevada, his institution turned into the first official brothel. This event served to legalize prostitution in 12 of the 17 counties of the state. In 1999, the US Internal Revenue Service seized the property of the Mustang after the management of the brothel was convicted of fraud and racketeering. The women who worked there were evicted, and a heavy lock was hung on the door. In the same year, the Mustang building became federal property, which is managed by the Land Management Agency.
