Debbie Mayes and her husband Gabriel from Texas are living the American dream. Parents of four children turned an old yellow school bus into a stylish and convenient mobile home for the whole family, spending 38 thousand dollars (about 2 million rubles).
The couple has four lovely children growing up, the youngest of whom is two years old. At some point, Debbie and Gabriel got tired of their 5,000 square foot (about 500 square meters) home and swapped it for a family mobile home. They bought a classic school bus, got rid of the chairs, equipped the kitchen, living area, bedroom and beds for children. And they went to conquer the country — from Tennessee to Nevada.

But the Mayes will not get rid of the bus: "We will definitely leave it and rent it on Airbnb or travel again. The children are already arguing who will ride it first when they grow up." Parents spent 38 thousand dollars and 6 months on the complete reconstruction of the bus. "We lived in an ordinary house, Gabriel worked at several jobs, sometimes coming home in the morning. After a while, everything began to collapse emotionally. We were both unhappy and ceased to be one. We realized that we needed to change everything in our lives." "I saw a video on YouTube about life on wheels, and we decided that it would suit us the best. At first, Gabriel was skeptical, but we needed to go to California, and it was the perfect way to travel with family." The Mayes family has already traveled 3,000 miles (almost 5,000 kilometers) across Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada. Debbie is sure that the mobile home has made her family even stronger. "We used to go to our rooms in the house and spend the whole day like this. Now the children read to each other, ride bicycles together, and in the evenings we all gather on the couch and watch movies." "Life has become much easier. Material values do not particularly concern us. We now subtly feel each other's emotions. And we will use the trip to finally pay off the loan and save up for a new house."Keywords: Bus | Mobile home | Family
