The Dutch State Museum bans cameras and tells everyone to draw what they see
The National Museum of the Netherlands has come up with an original way to interest visitors in the works of art that it displays. Cameras and phones were not banned, but guests were encouraged to leave them at home - and not to take pictures, but to draw works of art.
"In today's world of mobile phones and other things, a visit to a museum is often a passive and superficial experience," the museum's website says. “People cannot truly understand beauty, touch magic and wonder. That is why we invite visitors to discover and appreciate the beauty of art through drawings.
Anyone can do it. It is not necessary to be able to draw - it is important to look at what you draw. In the process, you see things that you did not pay attention to before. You see the proportions, the details, the lines… You get closer to the secret of the artist.”
