The couple rented a popular apartment on Airbnb and found that the tenants were being watched
Two British tourists stayed in Toronto in an apartment popular on Airbnb, where they found an unpleasant surprise — it turned out that a strange alarm clock by the bed was equipped with a surveillance camera.
Dougie Hamilton, 34, from Glasgow, said he and his companion came to the apartment after a "very long day" in Toronto, dreaming of a vacation. But after 20 minutes of staying in the apartment, he felt something was wrong, and the strange clock immediately aroused his suspicion. They were plugged into an outlet using a wire similar to a phone charging cable.
The excited Scotsman contacted the police and reported the incident to Airbnb. And while law enforcement officers have just started checking against the owner of the apartment, the administration of the service has already reimbursed the damage: returned the money for the apartment and offered travelers to choose one of three nearby luxury hotels.
The management of Airbnb reported that the company has launched its own investigation into this incident. In addition, they temporarily disconnected the landlord from the service and canceled all reservations for his real estate: in addition to an apartment with a watch for surveillance, he owns six more apartments with hundreds of reviews.
