The chapel in the cliff above the cliff is the perfect place to reflect on the eternal
Often, when a person wants to think about the most intimate or turn to the Almighty, he goes somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Guided by these thoughts, the Greek architects developed the project of a small chapel. The building will be built right in a rocky cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea.
The Greek firm OPA (Open Platform for Architecture) presented the concept of the Chapel of the Holy Cross.
According to the architects' project, it will be located on the island of Serifos, built right into a rocky cliff near the Aegean Sea. Simple outlines and rough finish with an untreated concrete surface will blend perfectly with the surrounding arid landscape.
The traditional forms of the chapel will resemble a cross. However, it will be traced not in horizontal outlines, as is done in Catholic churches, but in vertical ones. For access to natural light, a multi-colored long stained glass window on the ceiling and wide window openings that will overlook the endless expanses of the sea are designed.

The Chapel of the Holy Cross can also serve as a lighthouse
At night, the chapel with the lights on will also function as a lighthouse. At the moment, the architectural firm is looking for investors to implement this project.
