The artist saw a wonderful photo car in a dream and made it come true
In 1993, the artist Harrod Blank dreamed that he was riding on a bus made of cameras, and they all work continuously, although passers-by do not suspect it. When he woke up, Blank went to the store and bought all the cheap cameras there, and for the next two years he designed the structure. Enthusiastic friends helped the artist build the dream bus.
In 1995, the car left the garage, and Blank immediately drove it from California to New York. He stayed there for six months, and earned money by having people photographed with his art car. For the last 20 years, the car has been pleasing people at all kinds of festivals.
The cameras that the car is covered with are not randomly selected: for example, all Polaroid cameras made since the company was founded until 1993 are on the radiator grille, and it is not easy to assemble such a collection. Other cameras are also divided into groups.
In one of the sides of the bus, four working television screens are mounted in place of the windows, which symbolize the photographic film. The mosaic in the form of an eye is lined with colored light filters.
On the other side, Kodak Instamatic cameras have laid out a mosaic in the form of this very Kodak Instamatic.
On the roof of the bus, the same cameras add up to the word Smile, that is, "smile".
And on the back of the bus, two monitors show a slide show of photos taken by him.
At the time of the creation of the machine, all the cameras installed on it were working, and some of them were connected to the control system from the inside, that is, it is not necessary to press the button to take a picture. The cameras cannot be removed, so it will not work to replace the film or batteries — the Form receives only pictures from digital cameras.
