The Art of Disguise: Nude Models in New York City

Categories: World |

Using people as a canvas, body painter Trina Merry began to create amazing "paintings" that fit in perfectly with the surrounding landmarks. The idea is simple: you take a model and paint it so that it fits seamlessly into the background. The background is also important - the Empire State Building, the Manhattan Bridge, Central Park and other sights of New York, which has already become native to the artist. The implementation of an idea, of course, requires time, patience and talent, but the result is amazing and delightful. “I wanted to better understand this city and how to see its sights,” says Trina, “so instead of just photographing someone in front of the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty, I decided to fit it into this landscape.”

2. To create a drawing on the model's body is a laborious job that takes several hours. Trina admits that her art is somewhat reminiscent of Buddhist monks creating mandalas out of colored sand. Their works are also destroyed immediately upon completion.

3. Body painting is hard work not only for the artist, but also for the model, who has to stand still for hours. But there are also pleasant moments: according to model Jessica, brush movements over the body act like a soothing massage.

6. Body art is an art that only remains in photographs. After 6 hours of drawing, having achieved the desired effect and taking pictures, the work of art is simply washed off. It is probably not easy for an artist to come to terms with the fact that his unique work is so fleeting.

7. Not without excesses during work. A dissatisfied passer-by informed the police that a half-naked girl, painted with paint, was walking around the streets. Alas, not everyone can appreciate real art. Fortunately, the artist was able to explain everything to the New York police and continue to work on.
