taxidermy truck
What you are about to see is taxidermy on a grand scale. This Ford pickup is probably one of the creepiest sights on US roads. Why? Yes, because it is decorated with 50 animal corpses. 1. A stuffed lynx-like creature looks down on you from a rooftop, next to the carcasses of a raccoon and groundhog. There's even a frog supposedly drinking Jack Daniels next to an alligator.
2. The car is adorned with a Confederate flag, and 43-year-old photographer Diana Dodd first met its mysterious driver when she drove into a local store in Savannah, Georgia.
3. “The first time I saw this, I parked in front of the store because I was amazed,” says the photographer.
4. “I haven’t seen anything like this before, so I just couldn’t drive past.”
5. "I had to take a picture of the truck, because I'm unlikely to be believed by anyone without obvious evidence."
6. Although the identity of the driver and the reasons why he so decorated his car with stuffed animals remain a mystery, Diana believes that he could be a local hunter or taxidermy enthusiast.
7. “Most people were amazed, and some were simply shocked by this pickup.”
8. “Some were horrified, but they all stared at the car anyway. The driver was a typical hunter from the southern states, a la trucker.
9. “Hunting is a favorite pastime in the US, especially in southern regions like Georgia. Hunting all the local game from deer to birds to alligators is a very popular sport.”
10. Many say that this "scarecrow" is a real symbol of the deep south of our country. Perhaps the truck is his form of expression, something like modern southern art. I hope someday I will be able to find a driver and have a real interview with him. I think it will be interesting."
