1. Mikaela Skovranova, 27, was born in Slovakia. After moving to Sydney at the age of 13, Michaela realized that the ocean is what she loves most in life.
2. According to the photographer, the relationship with the ocean did not develop immediately: “Having moved to the ocean from a small landlocked country, I felt very insecure when I plunged into the water. Over time, I realized that if I could see what was around me, it would give me a sense of security. I started diving and plunged into the world of absolute peace and quiet. It was wonderful".
3. “My personal limitation is the natural capacity of my body. Diving equipment and a waterproof camera case can be heavy and limit your mobility. Freediving in this regard provides more opportunities, but you have to rely only on your lungs. I try to solve this problem by practicing freediving and swimming,” says Michaela.
4. Michaela received her first order for underwater photography in May 2014.
5. Synchronicity is Mikaela Skovranova's latest project. She photographed humpback whales and seals.
6. Whales struck her the most: “Female whales are gentle and caring mothers, but at the same time they are incredibly strong animals,” she says. “Their lungs are capable of making sounds that make you feel vibrations throughout your body.”

8. This is her favorite shot from the series. It's called "Love Leaves Scars": "This is a portrait of a humpback whale calf. Baby whales are usually very light in color. After a few days, scratches become visible on their body. Mother and baby rub against each other, thus expressing love. The skin is damaged, but the need to express love is much stronger.”
