Retired and started living: an elderly couple built a plane and flew around the world
The elderly couple landed at 43 airports in 23 countries and flew 52,188 kilometers in 160 days of travel, which they made on a hand-assembled plane.
Sylvia and Brian spent two years designing the flying machine. The plane took to the sky from Port Alfred, South Africa. During the trip, the couple visited Tanzania, Iceland, the USA, New Zealand, the Seychelles and even Sylvia's hometown of Norwich in England.
Sylvia and Brian started preparing for the trip in 2014, and got married in 2015.
The couple designed a four-seat aircraft with a 260 hp engine. Brian worked on it all day.
The couple made their first flight on May 31, 2017 from Port Alfred to Mount Pilanesberg. And then the duration of the trips ranged from a 30-minute trip from Kilimanjaro to Arusha in Tanzania to a 14-hour flight from Merced, California, to Honolulu, Hawaii.
An unforgettable story happened to a couple at Auckland Airport, New Zealand.
On November 6, Sylvia and Brian landed in Port Alfred, and their journey came to an end.
