Red Lagoon in Chile
In the city of Camina, in northern Chile, 147 km from the city of Iquique and about 3700 m above sea level is the Red Lagoon. Its waters have such a bright red hue that it seems as if it is a lagoon of red ink or blood. The locals knew about this place, but it remained unknown even to the National Tourism Service until 2009.
