An unusual structure has appeared on the popular peak of Kronplatz. Part of it is hidden in the ground, and the other hangs over the cliff in three tunnels. This is the sixth and final museum dedicated to the achievements of the famous climber Reinhold Messner. The corridors in the building resemble caves or mountain tunnels, and the observation deck offers stunning views of the famous peaks of the Dolomites.

It is dedicated to the biography and achievements of the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner, who became famous for the fact that he managed to conquer all 14 peaks over 8000 meters (“eight-thousanders”), and was also the first to climb Everest without an oxygen mask.

The museum is located on the site of the Kronplatz mountain - a popular place among tourists. When entering it, visitors seem to fall into tunnels or grottoes, which lead them to an observation deck overlooking famous peaks.

5. MMM Corones. Interior.

The main building material of the museum was reinforced concrete and fiber-reinforced concrete. The design was developed by the architect in accordance with the surrounding landscape. The exterior gray panels of the façade are reminiscent of limestone, while the dark gleaming parts of the interior look like anthracite. In order to create a museum with an area of 1000 sq. meters, nearly 4,000 sq. meters of rock, then to make a huge mound on top of the building.
