Models and their mothers
Women who are pregnant with girls are often told that daughters allegedly steal their mother's beauty. But Howard Schatz, in his project on models and their mothers, explores the origins of beauty and how certain traits are passed on to the next generation. Howard is interested not only in the genetic similarity of mothers and their model daughters, but also in how they interact with each other. He has been photographing model-mother couples for over 12 years. Sometimes they carefully hold hands, and sometimes they don’t want to touch at all. “During the shoot, I ask the model girl to just be her mother’s daughter,” says Howard. - You don't have to be sexy. They usually have problems with this. I want them to stop smiling and telling me how they should look."
